It's a Christmas Tree. Get over it.

Finally, someone with a set of balls, namely Dennis Hastert, has stepped up and said that the conical conifer is a Christmas Tree. And that's what it is. It's not a Holiday Tree, it's not a Chanukah Bush, and it's not a People's Shrubbery.

It's a Christmas Tree. Get over it.

If you're not a Christian, it's still a Christmas Tree. It's a symbol associated with Christmas, and that's just how it is. If you're part of the 15-20% of people in our Country who aren't Christian, don't be offended. Here's why:

If you let them rename the Christmas Tree, then what's to stop them from renaming a Menorah a Holiday Candelabra?

[Bloggers note: even though most people refer to the 9-stemmed candelabra as a "menorah", it is really a menukiah.]

And why stop there? If we can eliminate Christian and Jewish symbols, why not eliminate Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, and Shinto symbols too? Maybe we can just close our eyes and pretend all religions don't exist. Just tell 300,000,000 people that everything they believe is complete bunk.

Or, you can pull your head out of your ass, and realize that religions do exist, and in this Country, we recognize that we can freely celebrate our religion. Our Founding Fathers recognized that preserving our Right to freely practice our religions was so important, they made the Freedom from Government interference into religion a specific Right guaranteed in the First Amendment. They even made sure that they picked the FIRST AMENDMENT to add that clause to. Not the Second. Not the Fifth. The First. It was THAT important to them.

Every tyrant knows that he has to quash religion. Religion begets morality, and morality begets and end to tyranny.

Who is out to quash religion in our Country? Start with the ACLU, whose goal it is to change our society to a Socialist regime with Liberal ideology the only accepted leadership. Think I'm wrong? Check out the ACLU more thoroughly. Read what the founders of it believe in. Why do they challenge religious symbols, no matter how innocuous? Why did they sue the city of Los Angeles (which means "The Angels" in Spanish, a clear reference to Religious icons) for a microscopic cross in the city's seal? No one complained about it.

Because it's all a part of their Socialist agenda. And I, for one, don't support it. Even when they do fight a legitimate battle, I still don't support them. Normally, if we're on the same side of an issue, it's not for the same reason.

That being said, I want the Government to recognize that Christmas exists. I don't want them to make me celebrate it, but I don't want them to stop others from celebrating it, either. That is what the Freedom specified in the First Amendment is all about. For us to be Free, we have to each be able to practice whatever we choose without fear of someone else stopping us. That same Freedom guarantees that others cannot make us practice what they want. Sorry, Jerry Falwell. You can do what you want for yourself, just don't try to get me to do what you want.

So, now that I've ranted, don't take away Christmas trees. If you want to take something away, take away the ACLU.

See what else I have to say Previous day's rant
